Game drives

At Savanna Resort Hotel, visitors can safely connect to the Ishasha sector to enjoy a guided game drive. The Ishasha sector offers the best game viewing experience with a chance for tourists to encounter the unique tree-climbing lions. The Ishasha sector is found in the southern end of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Western Uganda.

Beyond the tree-climbing lions, Ishasha also has other wildlife to be spotted by visitors including topis, cape buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, leopards, Uganda Kobs, bushbucks, hyenas, etc. Guided game drives along the Ishasha are perfectly done using a 4×4 safari vehicle.

Gorilla trekking

Tourists can leave Ishasha for Buhoma sector one of the regions where gorilla trekking adventures are offered. At the Buhoma region, visitors get a chance to track gorilla families such as the Mubare group, Habinyanja, Katwe, Rushegura, and Muyambi gorilla groups. At the Buhoma sector in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, expect to come across birds such as barred long-tailed cuckoos, regal sunbirds, Kivu ground thrush, lemon doves, red-eyed dove, speckled pigeon, western crested Guineafowl, Helmeted Guineafowl, Dusky turtle doves, Blue quail, Tambourine dove, scaly spurfowl, white-spotted fluff tail, African swift, montane nightjars, and scarce swift.

Additional birds to spot at Buhoma include Horus swifts, spotted eagle-owl, little sparrow hawks, Verreaux’s eagle owl, speckled mousebirds, African fish eagle, dwarf honey guide, African grey woodpeckers, lesser honeyguide, and more.
