The 4 days Bwindi Gorillas and Kibale Chimpanzees is an amazing safari that allows you make a lifetime trip to Uganda’s most famous primate trekking destinations. A trip to the south-west of Uganda leads you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home to the World’s highest population of mountain gorillas as well as ultimate Gorilla trekking destination and a trip to western Uganda to visit Kibale Forest National Park, the primate Capital of the World for a chance to trek Chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The most exciting part in this Safari is that it allows you to visit a third destination as you will discover in the itinerary.

Day 1: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking and cultural visit.
Day 4: Return to Kampala.
Detailed itinerary of the 4 days Bwindi Gorillas and Kibale Chimpanzees
Day 1: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
As early as 6:00am, you will start your 4 days Bwindi Gorillas and Kibale Chimpanzees Tour with breakfast and pick-up by our driver/guide for a transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. This 6-7 hours’ journey won’t be a direct boring drive but rather exciting with stopovers, one being at Nakayima Tree in Mubende where your mind will be blown by the way a tree that existed for over 600 years is worshiped and believed to give blessings and heal diseases. Continue with your journey until the quiet City of Fort Portal for Lunch and direct to the Lodge to rest, dinner and overnight.

Travel time: 6-7 hours depending on the time spent at stopovers.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On this Day you will be trekking the first primate specie (Chimpanzees) of your trip. Wake up to a delicious breakfast and transfer to Kanyanchu Reception Center for a briefing on the activity. The ranger will take you through what you need/need not to do while trekking chimpanzees or while in their presence and later venture into the jungle for the chimpanzee community. At 8:00am start following the trail where with the help of the ranger guide you will encounter different beautiful residents of the Park especially other primate species, plethora of birds and tree species. Trekking will last 1-3 hours and time to spend with the chimpanzees is one hour before returning to the Lodge for check-out. Leave for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the stunning Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will see different savannah wildlife species-warthogs, Topis, Uganda Kobs, buffaloes and elephants among others. Lunch will be en-route and arrival in the Park will be in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking and cultural visit
After a relaxed night, walk up early for early breakfast and with your trekking gear as well as drinking water transfer to the Park Headquarters for a briefing by the Park rangers. The Briefing starts at 7:00am and lasts for 30-45 minutes focusing on the dos and don’ts of the activity. In the company of other trekkers, ranger/guides and porters start the trek to search for the mountain gorillas that lasts 1-4 hours depending on the location of the mountain gorilla family. On finding them, your camera should start rolling because you will have only one hour with them then return to the Park Headquarters for your trekking certificate. Have Lunch and relax. In the evening head for an optional community visit to share on your exciting cultures. Retire to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Return to Kampala
On this day have breakfast and embark on your return journey to Kampala City, with a 30 minutes’ break at the Uganda Equator for the experiments that show that the Earth is divided into Northern and Southern Hemispheres, have some coffee and buy souvenirs. Continue with the scenic drive and arrive in the evening for drop-off at your place of stay or return flight if it is scheduled for that day.
