This 4 days Bwindi Gorilla Safari is a thrilling opportunity for primate enthusiasts to trek two families of the 10 habituated gorilla families in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Nestled within the rolling hills of South-western is a dense Tropical rainforest from which the National Park was gazetted and a home to almost half the World’s surviving mountain gorilla population. The safari starts from Entebbe/Kampala and ends in the same place but is flexible and can be adjusted to suit your personal interest. However, this safari can also work for visitors wishing to start from Kigali, Rwanda but the only difference is the road trip experience.

Detailed itinerary of our 4 days Bwindi Gorilla Safari
Day 1: Road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Start the first day of the 4 days Bwindi Gorilla Safari with breakfast and getting your luggage ready from the 8-9 hours’ road trip to the south-west of Uganda. You will be briefed by our guide who will take you through everything you need to know before starting the scenic drive. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes, large banana plantations, Ankole Long-horned cattle and make a stop at the Uganda Equator to marvel at the natural phenomenon, stretch your joints and buy/have some coffee or snacks. Continue with the exciting journey until Mbarara City for Lunch and arrive your final destination in the evening to freshen-up, have dinner, relax and rest for the night.

Journey time: 8-9 hours.
Day 2: First gorilla trek in Bwindi Forest and cultural tour
Start the second day of your safari with a hot cup of pure Ugandan tea or coffee, fruits and other delicious foods served at your Lodge. Get your trekking gear ready for a briefing at the Park Headquarters where you will find/meet other anxious trekkers who will share their excitement and expectation. Be briefed by the Head ranger on the guidelines of the trek and at exactly 8:00am start the trek for the habituated gorilla family.
This will last anywhere between 30 minutes and 4 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Trekking would have been longer if not for the trackers who first follow their trails very early in the morning then inform your group guides and on finding them, you will have one hour to observe and take photos of them going-about with their daily activities. Return to the Park Headquarters for your trekking certificate and back to the Lodge for Lunch. If you still feel energetic, take a leisurely walk to the nearby local communities who will be excited to meet you and willing to take you through their thrilling cultures and traditions. Return to the Lodge for a hot meal and overnight.

Day 3: Second gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest Park and rest
On this day, you will be required to wake up by 5:00am for breakfast and with your trekking gear and packed lunch drive to the next sector to have an extraordinary feeling of trekking a different gorilla family and most interestingly in another sector (Ruhija sector). By 5:30am start the 2 hours’ drive to Ruhija, arriving on-time for briefing on the guidelines of the activity. Start the trek at 8:00am and let the adventure begin with spotting interesting features of the forest and after 1-4 hours of trekking, find the gorilla family of which you will spend one hour. Find a convenient place to enjoy your packed lunch and return to the Lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Return to Kampala/Entebbe or Kigali
Enjoy a hefty breakfast and check-out of the Lodge for a return trip to Kampala/Entebbe or Kigali. Arrive on-time for return flight (if scheduled for that day) or check-in at a hotel for overnight.
